That’s what I’m asking: How do I trick the installer for the AMD Win-7 64-bit chipset software to enable AHCI given the limitation of the 2.6.3 BIOS on an Inspiron 1501? I tried one 4GB RAM chip and had the same problem — on boot, the computer issued a couple of chimes, the screen remained black, and the processor & RAM heated PNG shows how it looks in my device manager.
