I suppose it is because atievetsd not working correctly. The flicker is annoying but not so bad as the slowness of the ATI fglrx driver I'd managed to get installed. Is something because i am using Debian Squeeze? After that, when I used the 'apt-get remove --' command I was able to remove all the fgrlx packages properly. I'm not sure what that means because I want the drivers for my sound card - not graphics.
